Exhibit Next Week at Omba

French artist, Lily Yousry-Jouve, will exhibit her oil paintings at an exhibition called ‘A Tale of the Rocks’ at the Bank Windhoek Omba Gallery from next Wednesday at 19h00 until March 31. Lily Yousry-Youve has been inspired by nature, and particularly the rocks, mountains and trees of Namibia. “Namibian rocks tell us a story that goes back millions of years from the depths of the earth,” she says. “My paintings are neither abstract nor representational. They find place between the two approaches, with the ambition to conciliate them. At the same time, I see the liberating and creative power of imagination and dream.” Her unconventional approach to the landscape shows her gift for transforming the real into the surreal from her poetic and colourful perspective. Though she studied law at the Sorbonne in Paris, Lily Yousry-Jouve was exposed to art from a young age. Her Egyptian father was a well-known artist in Egypt. Lily Yousry-Jouve, who has lived in Paris, Kenya, the Philippines and Namibia, has participated in several group exhibitions and had four solo shows. This exhibition will be opened by Jo Madisia, Director of the National Gallery.
