The Executive Director of the Namibia Community-Based Tourism Assistance Trust (Nacobta), Olga Katjiuongua, said the annual tourism expo accords a good opportunity for small tourism players, such as community-based tourism establishments and products, to showcase their products.

“It’s really a great opportunity to even meet tour operators in person, as our establishments are mostly made known by word of mouth,” Katjiuongua said.
Katjiuongua noted that tourists might only know about big tourism establishments and might not know about alternatives.

“It’s cheaper than other destinations, you can even pay less than N$100 for camping,” Katjiuongua said.

In terms of quality Katjiuongua said they keep it simple yet at the same time ensure that the establishments have all necessary services, adding that they do not compete with three-star destinations.

A total of N$26 million was generated from the community-based sector in 2006 compared to N$500?
