Father on the run after alleged rape of daughter

Home Crime and Courts Father on the run after alleged rape of daughter

Tsumeb

The police are looking for an as yet unidentified man who normally resides at Kuvikiland in Tsumeb, who is suspected of having repeatedly raped his 11-year-old daughter in January.

The suspect is on the run.

According to Oshikoto’s regional crime investigation coordinator Deputy Commissioner Naomi Katjiua it is alleged that the suspect sexually assaulted his daughter on several occasions at their home in Kuvikiland informal settlement.

The minor, a learner at a local primary school, was taken to the hospital earlier this week for medical examinations, where it was apparently detected that something is amiss. Police investigations into the matter continue.

In a separate incident, over the weekend a passenger grabbed the steering wheel of a Toyota Station Wagon (registration number N7479T) causing the car to overturn. The crash took place about 3 km outside Tsumeb on the Tsintsabis road. There were six occupants in the vehicle at the time and all except the driver sustained serious injuries and were admitted to Tsumeb State Hospital. It is alleged that a male passenger was arguing with the driver’s girlfriend and grabbed the steering wheel causing the driver to lose control and the car to overturn. A case of attempted murder has been opened and the suspect is due to appear in court once he is discharged from hospital.
