WINDHOEK – Beautiful Kidz Namibia received a new blind stitch sewing machine from the Old Mutual corporate division to use in their Anusa Schoolwear, a needlework project that produces school uniforms.
The new industrial sewing machine enables Beautiful Kidz to produce school clothing, far more efficiently both in terms of time and labour. Beautiful Kidz is a non-profit organisation serving children in need. Their community centre is located in Katutura and caters for many orphaned and vulnerable children. The organisation focuses on education, training, youth programmes and job creation. In a community where drug and alcohol abuse is high, high unemployment, and where many young people suffer because of HIV/Aids and hunger, Beautiful Kidz has made it their mission to care for nearly 90 toddlers, 360 young people and 20 adults every week.
The organisation also offers computer training, a homework class, as well as teacher and childcare training. Old Mutual’s corporate division has been sponsoring the organisation for some time now. Last year it donated N$30 000.
