Windhoek
This weekend promises lots of fireworks as activities resume in the second round of the popular Bank Windhoek Fistball League at the Cohen Fistball Club (CFC), with matches starting at 08h00.
Both CFC 1 and SKW 3 will be out to extend their lead in their respective categories and for the first time in league history, the league round will be hosted at the CFC, because of an additional pitch that was erected this year.
Starting off in the national A-league will be CFC 2 against SKW 1, with the former having regained strength and wanting to prove a point against their club’s bitter rivals.
At the last league round in Swakopmund, Cohen showed that those who underestimate them do so at their own peril. In the second match of the day, CFC 2 will come up against their stablemates, CFC 1, while the last match pits the two titans SKW 1 and CFC 1.
CFC 1 gave a knockout performance six weeks ago when they won 5-1 against the same opponents and would want to build on that to strengthen their position on the log table. The encounter will also be the last appearance from Cohen’s national spiker, Tristan Minz, who is destined to leave his native land for Germany to further his academic aspirations.
Two hard games await log leaders SKW 2 and the pair of Robby Caspary and Michael Baas will have to fend off any danger posed by the defending champions, Cohen 3. Although the Blue Whites have yet to meet their expectations, they still have enough quality on their side to upset the applecart.
SFC will also face SKW 2 after the coastal outfit managed to equalise following a 3-0 set advantage by SKW 2 in their first league round encounter, but they could unfortunately not win that match. The 2nd placed team is eager to beat the Olympia-based team this time around.
DTS will also be highly motivated to bring home another victory against their opponents, CFC 4, which they have already beaten in a previous league confrontation.
