The Khomas police are investigating a case of concealment after a foetus was discovered by a security officer at the International University of Management  Dorado Park, Windhoek, on Tuesday morning.

According to Khomas Police spokesperson Silas Shipandeni, a security officer found a foetus between six and seven months dumped in a dustbin, the security then alerted a staff member, who called the police. Shipandeni said it is suspected an unknown female person entered the toilet and aborted a baby, wrapped it in white plastic and put the plastic in a pink handbag.

“As it can be seen on CCTV camera on 10 October 2022 around 11h05, a woman, believed to be the suspect, came out of the toilet of the university while wearing a white shirt, black trousers and carrying a pink handbag.

“She walked to the dustbin near the student gate and threw the foetus in the dustbin and walked out of the campus. The foetus was taken to the Windhoek police mortuary for autopsy,” said the police.

The suspect is not yet arrested at this stage, as the police investigation continues.  Meanwhile, the police arrested four suspects for dealing with and being in possession of cannabis on Tuesday 11 October 2022 at about 17h05 on the B6 national road. “Members of the Seeis police station were conducting a mini roadblock on the road between Windhoek and Gobabis when a silver Nissan Note N4967R approached. The police searched the car and 6 000 grams of cannabis, worth N$300 000 was discovered under the bonnet,” said Shipandeni.

The suspects are expected to appear in court this week.
