EENHANA – About twenty beauties vie for the more than N $ 5 000 in the Miss Ondobe Summer Modeling tomorrow.
Josiah Hitandwa aka Allu, the organiser of the Miss Ondobe says the stage has now been set for tomorrow pageant at La Vida Sports Bar at Ondobe. “This is going to be one of the biggest shows for the Ohangwena region revelers on this smallest town’s entertainment calendar. Apart from that we are lining up to 20 well groomed girls from the region to showcase their modeling talent, they will also be enjoying Gazza performing as the main musicians,” he says.
However, sponsors are still welcome to come aboard. Last year the event was co-sponsored by OK Supermarket, Moses Haufiku of La Vida Sports Bar, New Era and Kundana newspapers, among other well wishers. “We are appealing for the sponsors to help us as they did last year and we promise to improve the stage and prizes for the winners come this weekend,” says Hotandwa.
He adds that the competing girls will use the Miss Ondobe beauty pageant to prepare for the forthcoming Miss Summer – Ohangwena region 2015 which is part of the efforts to ensure that the region and the country at large claims its space on the national modeling map. Hitandwa is grateful for the support the show has attracted from the Ohangwena business community since its launch last year. Musicians such as Chella, Supper Socks, Nestor Flybek and Town Boys, Batwan and Stage Breakers are billed to entertain guest at the show. “We have invited Gazza because of popular demand and we expect the venue to be fully packed to capacity. Many revelers from as far as Oshana and Omusati region have promised to support this event,” Allu says. He further adds that there will be a seven- a-side soccer, netball and volley ball tournament and winners will walk away with N $ 500 N $ 450 respectively.
Last year’s winners were Saiya Maiyah Sartiel who was crowned Miss Ondobe2013, Amenenge Nangeni and Maria Katewa were crowned first and second princesses respectively.
Tickets are now on sale at La Vida Sports Bar going for N $ 30 in advance, N $ 40 at the doors and for the VIPs goes for N $ 100 each.
