WINDHOEK – The Prime Minister’s Office yesterday assured the nation that Prime Minister Dr Hage Geingob was in excellent health.
In August, Geingob underwent minor surgery and spent his 72nd birthday in a local private hospital
Dismissing media speculation on his health, his office said: “There have been a number of speculative and conflicting reports in the media about the status of his health as well as the reason for his hospitalisation.”
“On Friday August 2, 2013, the Prime Minister was admitted to Medi-Clinic Hospital to undergo a standard medical procedure on his skull to remove blood caused by a small sub-dural bleed. Reports by the Prime Minister’s medical doctors clearly indicate that the condition is neither life-threatening nor should be a cause for concern.”
Following a brief overnight stay in hospital on August 3, 2013 for observation, the Prime Minister was discharged from hospital on August 4, 2013 upon which he immediately held a press conference at his private residence in order to explain to the Namibian nation, and the world for that matter, the reason for his hospitalisation, the Prime Minister’s Office added.
