WINDHOEK – Prime Minister, Dr Hage Geingob yesterday signed the book of condolences opened at the official residence of the Zambian High Commissioner in Windhoek in honour of the late Zambian President Michael Sata, who died in London over a week ago. Geingob will tonight deliver a special message on behalf of the Namibian people to Zambian nationals residing in Namibia.
Geingob is expected to read the special message in honour of the late Sata at a special memorial service that will be held at the Roman Catholic Church along Werner List Street in Windhoek starting from 18h00.
The PM yesterday confirmed President Hifikepunye Pohamba will attend the burial service to be held next week in Lusaka, Zambia.
At the signing ceremony of the book of condolences at the official residence of the high commissioner, Geingob was received by Colonel Getrude Bili Mwale, the Charge de Affairs at the Zambian mission in Windhoek.
Expressing his sympathy Geingob intoned, “Your loss is our loss. His time has come and there is nothing that we can do.”
“We join our brothers and sisters from Zambia in mourning the loss of President Michael Chilufya Sata. Africa has lost one of its outstanding statesmen and iconic leaders who has been devoured by the earth untimely. May his soul rest in peace.”
The PM, quoting Psalm 34 verse 19, said “a righteous man may have many troubles but the Lord delivers him from them all.”
