WINDHOEK– They started in the backyard using milk boxes and cans as drum kit, spray cans as microphones and foam boxes as a keyboard.

William (14), Hakeem (13) and Wayne (10) are the McKay relatives who goes by the showbiz name of Gentle Trio. Hailing from the southern part of the country, Lüderitz, they are currently trying to make a name for themselves in the local music scene. Ben McKay, the group manager and instructor, says William and Wayne are brothers and Hakeem is their cousin. They joined the music scene last February as trainee musicians and presented their first gospel show last May.
“These three boys started their music career on the backyard of my house using milk boxes and cans as drum kit, spray cans as mic and designed their own keyboard with foam boxes. Hearing how they sing and seeing their eagerness and passion for music makes me want to train them and manage them.  Although they do not have a song out yet, this did not stop them to upgrade their talent and train their voices by performing other artists’ songs. We are planning to release their first album in May 2015 because these boys have potential to deliver what they have,” says the instructor.

The Gospel stars will host a gospel show in July at Revival Ministries Church in Lüderitz, and will visit Rosh Pinah and Oranjemund in October and November on  a promotion  and raise fund for their upcoming album,” says Mckay.
