Go-Karting at Swakopmund

Go-Karting at Swakopmund

After successfully hosting an event in Windhoek, the Namibia Motorsport Association will host its 4th leg of the national championship in Swakopmund over the weekend.

The event is hosted by Walvis Bay Motorclub and sanctioned by the mother body, Namibia Motorsport Federation (NMF).

The event will be held at R&R racetrack at the coastal town of Swakopmund, which is expected draw more racing fans to watch.

Over 50 participants are expected to compete for top honours in various categories at the event. NMF president Bradley Fereira said they expect a huge turnout at the coast, given the racing culture. He said he does not expect any international participants.

However, he expects it to live up to the organiser’s expectations.

“The coming event is going to be massive.

We have all the best racer taking part in various category, which makes it even more exciting.

I believe many will be vying for top positions while others are looking forward to defending their titles, making the races unpredictable,” he said.

Top prospect Russell Josephat will grace the circuit.

His father and coach JP Josephat said he is upbeat about the race.

“It’s not going to be a tough race. Everyone will be eyeing to beat us at this competition. We have been undisputed for quite long on home soil, and hope to extend that run,” he remarked.

On preparations he said “We are prepared.

I think we had enough time to prepare since we last competed last month. That should give us a huge advantage already,” he stated.
