WINDHOEK-South African award-winning singer and reigning Queen of African Gospel, Rebecca Malope,will be leading the pack of gospel artists at the MTC concert at the Independence Stadium on May 31.

MTC’s Chief Human and Corporate Affairs Officer, Tim Ekandjo, says the concert is part of Namibias 25th independence anniversary celebrations and the 5th Anniversary of the Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMAS). Thus the winner of the Best Gospel category in the NAMAS this year will get a chance to showcase his or her talents live on stage. “Music is the food of love and the power of music unifies because it is a universal language. We therefore encourage everybody to come and celebrate with us,” Ekandjo invites. Rebecca has earned multiple awards, provided amazing performances at the Annual Music Expo in Germany, in Nigeria and Kenya, as well as a tour of the United Kingdom (UK) and achieved gold and multi-platinum discs in a career that has spanned over three decades and produced 32 top selling albums.

Rebecca’s staying power remains un-rivalled, earning her a devoted fan-base tof fans who have remained loyal to her for over 30 years. Having recorded lyrics in Shangaan, Tswana, Zulu as well as English, Rebecca reveals on her Facebook fan page her dedication to evangelism: “Of course I am always trying to bring the word of God to as many people as possible through my music, so singing in a variety of languages plays an important role,” she re-commits.

Tickets for the concert are N$ 50 and N$150 for VIPs and show starts at twelve O’clock (12H00) in the afternoon until six O’clock (18H00) late afternoon.
