Education
Holds a Doctorate in Philosophy from Utrecht University in the Netherlands, a Higher Diploma from the University of Namibia, a Master’s of Theology and a Higher Diploma from the University of the North, Turfloop, as well as a Diploma in Theology from the same institution.
He obtained his senior secondary certificate from Rundu Secondary School, having completed his Grade 9 at Linus Shashipapo Secondary School.
Career
He was Governor of both Kavango East and West regions before his full appointment as Governor of Kavango East. His diplomatic career has seen him serving as Namibia’s former High Commissioner to India, and Ambassador and Plenipotentiary of Namibia to the Russian Federation. His career in academia saw him working as a lecturer at the University of Namibia and as the rector of Rundu College of Education. He has also worked as a coordinator of the Human Rights Education Desk at the Council of Churches in Namibia. He has worked as a teacher as well as a radio broadcaster during his time as the senior radio producer at NBC.
He has served on the Second Delimitation Committee, the National Monuments Council, and is a former chairperson of the Regional Education Forum in Kavango Region. He was also a member of the Council of the University of Namibia and has served as board member of the National Advisory Board on Education. Besides being a governor, Mbambo also serves as an assisting pastor at the Uniting Reformed Church in Southern Africa (URCSA).
