The NIRO Career Guidance and University Readiness Conference 2024 is currently taking place in Windhoek.

Pupils, teachers, parents, exhibitors and industry representatives have gathered under the theme “Embracing Future Skills.” Discussions focused on career guidance, motivations and future skills.

NIRO is a locally-registered company established in 2008, and offers full-time tutoring, student development and university readiness programmes, among others.

Green Enterprise Solutions sponsored the NIRO Career Guidance and University Readiness Conference. Through this ,Green reaffirmed its commitment to providing Namibian learners ICT skills and knowledge, and
its desire to positively contribute to halting the widening digital divide.

With a focus on opportunities in emerging markets like green hydrogen and the recent oil and gas discoveries in Namibia, the conference provided learners with information through presentations that empowered them to better understand and realise their options.

Kehad Snydewel, managing director of Green Enterprise Solutions, highlighted the importance of digital literacy, stating: “We need to act with real urgency, and ensure the (digital divide) isn’t widened any further in comparison to other countries. It all starts with education, especially in light of the economic transformation that Namibia is on the cusp of.”

As the world’s educational landscape changes, Green is dedicated to supporting academic excellence, and equipping pupils for success within the ICT sector in Namibia and beyond.

At the conference, an exciting exhibition area gave learners access to useful tools and networking opportunities. Through these discussions, learners and teachers engaged professionals in their field, and learnt about current developments, career paths and opportunities.
The NIRO Academy’s director, Roadine Willemse, expressed happiness with number of learners attending the second edition of the conference.

“The increased participation this year demonstrates the growing recognition of the significance of the Career Guidance and University Readiness Conference,” Willemse said.
