V-POWER Angels edged Nust Babes 1-0 in an FNB Women Super League match played in scorching heat at the NFA Technical Centre in Windhoek on Saturday.

Debora Vries scored the winning goal. The match was part of Round 12 of the league. V- Power Angels assistant coach Venson Hamalwa expressed satisfaction with the points collected, noting the challenge of facing a strong opponent and the impact of the hot weather on the game.

He suggested rescheduling of matches to cooler times as the players are not coping with the heat.

Meanwhile, Dankie Frans of Nust Babes voiced dissatisfaction with their performance citing the need for more effective forwards and lack of support from the institution to sign players in towns such as Okakarara and Swakopmund.

“I found players and have been trying to get my manager to buy the players up until now. If the window opens and players are not bought, I will continue to play with these young players,” said a frustrated Frans.

In other matches at the same venue, log leaders FC Ongos Ladies thrashed Arrow Ladies 3-0, with Memory Ngonda put on a dazzling performance, and scoring a hattrick for her side, while Ramblers Women won 3-2 against Khomas Nampol, with goals from Jordan Wallace, Ashley Solomons and Charlotte Richter.

Khomas Nampol’s goals came from Lilie Kasheeta and Metutjo Tjivikua. Matches in the Round of 13 were set to continue yesterday. – lmupetami@nepc.com.na
