WINDHOEK – Well-known designer Hambeleleni Matsi, 31, also known as Hem made an appearance in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court yesterday facing charges of fraud and defeating or obstructing the course of justice.
Sources suspect she connived with people to burn her car so that she could claim insurance money of N$75 000. Police could arrest a second suspect.
Matsi is a fashion designer and medical technologist. She owns a fashion label in Namibia called Hemline.
She started in fashion five years ago and it was more of a hobby but two years later it grew into a business.
Public Prosecutor Nasilele Siyambango requested the matter to be remanded to March 25 2015.
Matsi paid bail of N$5 000.
She was arrested yesterday.
Magistrate John Sindano presided.
