The body of 50-year-old Fritz Jacobus Skrywer who went missing early this month was found by a group of men who were searching for their donkeys in Khorixas.
Skrywer was reported missing a day after he had come from Stampriet in the south to visit his family at Khorixas. The 50-year-old man who is the father of one child went to the bush to relieve himself on October 10, according to his sister Jacobina Petra! Ganes.
“He told us that he was going to relieve himself nearby the Khorixas State Hospital but went missing,” !Ganes said yesterday.
!Ganes thanked the police from Kunene Region, residents who were involved in the search and the media for assisting her family during the search. Skrywer will be buried at the end of the month at Khorixas as his family is unable to transport the body to the south and !Ganes said any assistance was welcome.
“A day after we announced him missing on the local community radio station KH-FM, a security woman saw him in the area of the mass housing project at Khorixas but the search party did not find him there,” said Ganes.
Inspector Richard Sipilanyambe, who heads the Crime Investigation Unit at the Khorixas Police Station, said the man was found lying on his back on a hilltop on Wednesday but no foul play was suspected. Sipilanyambe said Skrywer’s body was transported to Opuwo from where it will be taken to Oshakati for an autopsy.
