WINDHOEK
A cultural highlight will be presented in Namibia at the end of this month, it was announced in a press release from the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Windhoek.
The “Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater” from Schwerin in Germany will be on tour in the country with the musical theatre production, Comedian Harmonists.
The musical tells the story – in word and in song – of the “first boy-group of the world”, the Comedian Harmonists, a group of six young male singers, who were very successful in Germany during the Twenties and Thirties. Some of their hit tunes have made musical history.
The seizure of power by the National Socialists in Germany changed everything in 1935. They recorded their last song: “Morgen muss ich fort von hier” (Tomorrow I have to leave from here).
The “Comedian Harmonists” will perform in Swakopmund on August 22 and 23 at the Namib Primary School (tickets N$50); at the Omaruru Barth Hall on August 26 (tickets N$40); and on August 30 and 31 at the DHPS in Windhoek (tickets N$60).
