WINDHOEK – Governor of the Omusati Region, Sophia Shaningwa, yesterday hailed the MTC Nestor ‘Sunshine’ Tobias Boxing Academy for choosing the region to host the upcoming ‘Champs in Outapi’ boxing bonanza slated for March 01, saying it is not only a bold move, but a good decision by the academy.

Speaking at a brief press conference in the capital yesterday, Shaningwa said the Omusati Region, particularly the town of Outapi, is more than ready to stage the event that will provide a welcome boost to business at the town.

Shaningwa urged inhabitants of the Omusati Region to attend the boxing bonanza and to take advantage of the business opportunities it would present. The event will be staged at the Olufuko Centre in Outapi. “For the first time Outapi will be hosting a professional boxing bonanza, which will feature world champions such as Paulus ‘Hitman’ Moses amongst others. That’s why I’m urging the youth to come in numbers and support this event, as it will benefit the entire Omusati Region,” said Shaningwa, who promised to mobilize the business community to raise N$1 million to support the event. A northern businessman, Kanu Amathila, also joined the chorus with Shaningwa in urging youths of the region to make full use of the event and draw some inspiration from the likes of Hitman Moses and others who will be boxing on that night. “It will be a good opportunity for the youth to witness these champions in action firsthand, since most of these event were previously held in other regions.

Most of these young boys and girls look up to people like Hitman Moses and Paulus Ambunda to mention a few, so it will be a dream come true for these kids to watch them live as opposed to their habitual long walks to nearby villages were they go to watch most of our boxers live on TV,” added Amathila. Tickets for the event will cost N$50 for general access and N$300 for VIP access.  All those willing to make a contribution towards the successful hosting of the event can do so through: Acc No. 8003833141, Bank Windhoek, Outapi branch.
