SWAKOPMUND – The Deon Hotto Foundation donated 150 sanitary packs, power tools, and equipment to Coastal High School in Swakopmund on Friday as part of the organisation’s giving back to the community.

Deon Hotto, a former African Stars and current Orlando Pirates (SA) and Brave Warriors winger, founded the foundation.

In a media statement availed to this publication, the foundation said the school holds a special place in the Brave Warriors winger’s formative years (grades eight to 10) where he was nurtured.

“The Deon Hotto Foundation is pleased to announce its contribution of 150 sanitary packs, power tools, and equipment to the school. Additionally, Hotto’s framed soccer jersey will be donated (valued at over N$15 000), aiming to inspire the next generation of young talents and pay homage,” the statement said.

It added that, in its future endeavours, the foundation has decided to postpone the charity cup tournament in Omaruru.

The postponement is necessitated by Hotto’s extensive preparations for Afcon and his commitments to club activities in December.

The founder is eager to actively contribute to this initiative, the statement added.

Moving forward to 2024, the Deon Hotto Foundation says it is preparing to officially launch and expand its corporate social initiatives, with relevant information on these developments set to be announced in due course.

The donation demonstrates the charity’s unwavering commitment to creating a brighter future for children.

“Let us remember that our collective efforts can drive lasting change. Together, we will continue to do more for the underprivileged children in our communities,” the statement concluded.

The Deon Hotto Foundation was established in 2018, has made donations, supported sport clubs, old age homes and houses of safety, and recently inaugurated the Deon Hotto Charity Cup.

The mission of the foundation is to support underprivileged children and communities through sports development.
