The Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT) commits to working with communities to strengthen safety measures, promote conservation, and foster public awareness.
Following the culling of an elephant bull by the ministry near Onawa village in Omusati, the ministry expressed regret, given that no alternative was found when the animal posed a threat to communities and infrastructure.
MEFT minister Indileni Daniel in Parliament on Tuesday said that the values of respect, responsibility and stewardship must be upheld in a shared landscape.
Further, the minister emphasised that investment in proactive strategies, community education and emergency response mechanisms is important to protect both human life and wildlife.
