WINDHOEK – Bank Windhoek Holdings (BWH) has been named the official corporate sponsor of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Namibia (ICAN) for the next three years.

Speaking at the announcement of the agreement, Marlize Horn, Executive Officer: Group Marketing and Corporate Communication Services at Bank Windhoek Holdings said: “BWH recognise the value that members of ICAN add to the Namibian economy and to employers, such as BWH. Apart from auditing firms, Bank Windhoek Holdings is the biggest employer of chartered accountants (CA) in Namibia.

The welcoming event of the newly qualified chartered accountants, which took place on March 11, 2015, was the first official ICAN event sponsored by the Bank Windhoek Holdings Group as part of the agreement, which was followed by the ICAN Volleyball Tournament, which took place last Saturday.

“Our support is aimed at helping to build the ICAN brand and increase its visibility in the market, with the objective of encouraging more Namibians to take up accounting as a profession. BWH is proud of its new association with ICAN and will therefore add value to the institute and its members as we truly believe that together we do better. As part of this new partnership, the CAs employed by BWH will become more active in ICAN activities to help build its brand and expand its membership base,” said Horn.

Addressing the same event, Erentia Tromp, President of ICAN said: “ICAN looks forward to taking hands with Bank Windhoek Holdings and walking the road together for the next three years. We are very grateful and excited about this partnership through which we hope to raise the profile of the brand, not only externally, but also among our existing member base. We are also very committed to growing the number of accountants and chartered accountants in Namibia and can only succeed in doing so through forming alliances with corporates that are just as passionate about this as us.”
