Illegal waste dumping concerns Ongwediva

ONGWEDIVA – The Ongwediva Town Council has urged residents to refrain from the illegal dumping of waste in undesignated areas and to instead make use of the skips provided.

Town council spokesperson Ottilie Shingenge told Nampa yesterday the council has noted with concern that residents are dumping their domestic and garden waste in undesignated areas. Shingenge said the areas of concern are Ongwe, Buffalo, Lion, Kudu, Eliakim Namundjebo and Kaxumba Kandola streets, as well as the western side of the town and Extension Four.

“As a resident, you are charged for domestic and gardening waste. The current practice is not only illegal, but also tarnishes the good image of the town,” she said.

Shingenge reminded residents that refuse bins can be bought at the council office at N$295 per bin, or at the shop of their choice.
