Koichas school receives washing machines

KOICHAS ˗The Momentum Metropolitan Empowerment Trust (MMET) earlier this week donated three washing machines valued at N$23 000 to learners of the Ecumenical Community School in the Koichas settlement.

During the official handing over, one of the trustees Pastor Braam Boshoff said the trust’s philosophy is all about uplifting communities in the areas of job creation, skills development and poverty alleviation.

“The given field that we are in puts us in a position of trust to help people in realising their dreams and aspirations, especially when it comes to education,” he explained.

Boshoff also commended the school’s management for the proactive approach they have taken towards providing a better living environment for their learners.

“This is a clear demonstration of the commitment and dedication that teachers and learners have toward their school,” he added. The trustee then urged the learners to dedicate themselves to their studies to ensure a better future. “The interest that you have shown to us once again is a clear indication of your solidarity and reconfirmation of your interest in our children and school,” said principal Silvia Hange.  She expressed the hope that all parties at the school (learners, teachers, parents and hostel staff) can make a difference in life by taking care of the equipment donated.

The Ecumenical Community School at Koichas was established by the community of Vaalgras on 3 May 1983. It started with 48 learners, and has grown to 317 pupils today.
