SAATM roadshow to showcase Namibian aviation

Namibia is poised to make aviation history by hosting the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) roadshow, featuring Adefunke Adeyemi, Secretary General of the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC). Set for 21 and 22 September 2023, the event underscores Namibia’s commitment to enhancing regional collaboration and seamless aviation connectivity within Africa.

SAATM aims to reshape Africa’s aviation landscape, spurring economic growth, trade, tourism and cultural exchanges through an integrated airspace. As a key participant, Namibia is taking proactive steps to amplify air travel harmonisation and unlock its aviation sector’s potential.

The SAATM roadshow convenes stakeholders, officials, industry leaders, experts and the media for insightful discussions, presentations and networking. This platform will share insights, best practices and strategies to expedite SAATM implementation in Namibia and across Africa.

Highlights of the roadshow include a keynote address by works and transport ministry officials to emphasise SAATM’s role in air transport integration and economic progress across Africa. The event will include panel discussions and workshops, where experts will discuss air transport’s influence on travel, tourism, trade and solutions to SAATM challenges.

The roadshow will likewise incorporate presentation sessions for government and the private sector, as well as numerous networking opportunities for collaboration and partnerships to fuel aviation growth.

Namibia’s civil aviation authority states that the country’s landscape, culture and strategic position provide an ideal backdrop for this milestone event, where unity, progress and SAATM’s potential will shine.

The Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) initiative, led by the African Union (AU) and the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC), creates a unified airspace, driving intra-African connectivity, economic growth and tourism.

The AFCAC, a specialised AU agency, promotes and regulates civil aviation in Africa, advancing integration, safety and compliance with international standards.
