We aim to clinch title - Gure...as women’s league reaches climax

Ongos Ladies could clinch the FNB Women's Super League (WSL) championship title if they win their two matches this weekend.

They are scheduled to play Okahandja FC at 14h00 tomorrow, and then take on Namib Daughters at noon on Sunday.

Both matches are crucial for the defending champions in their quest to lift back-to-back titles.

Currently leading the standings with 49 points from 17 games played this season, Ongos Ladies need a win tomorrow to secure the title.

Speaking to this publication yesterday, Shama Gure, the head coach of the team, expressed confidence in Ongos' ability to collect maximum points over the weekend.

“We understand that all our games will be tough, and we respect our opponents. Our aim is to win and gather maximum points to clinch the title, just as we’ve aimed for throughout the entire season,” he stated.

Regarding the availability of key players for this weekend’s encounter, Gure said: “All our players are available, and we trust our experienced players to guide us to another title”.

In other matches, Nust Babes face Ramblers today at 17h00 at NFA Technical Centre.

Khomas Nampol Ladies, currently fifth on the standings with 32 points, will face fourth-placed Unam Bokkies, also with 32 points, at the NFA Technical Centre at 19h00 today.

Tomorrow, V-Power Angels (8th place with 20 points) will take on 9th-placed Namib Daughters (also with 20 points), while Beauties (second with 38 points) will clash with Girls and Goals (third place with 36 points). Both matches are at the NFA Technical Centre.

On Sunday at the NFA Technical Centre, Nust Babes will play Ongwediva Queens at 10h00, V-Power will meet Namib Daughters at 12h00, while Khomas Nampol will play Okahandja FC at 14h00.  Arrows Ladies will compete against Ramblers Women at 15h00 at the Amazing Kids Private School Stadium, while Khomas Nampol will face Girls and Goals at 16h00, followed by Beauties against Unam Bokkies at 18h00.
