Introducing Kwaii

Mzaki & Nestro are ready to release their new single Chinja on Friday, 19 December 2025. The
track will debut on all major streaming platforms and marks the official arrival of a uniquely Namibian sound that the artists have been developing for more than a year.

Group member Sean Nesho says Chinja represents not just a new release, but a new musical identity. “With this new project we’re trying to drop, it’s basically supposed to showcase a new sound. We call the sound Kwaii. It’s a combination of kwaito, house music and a pinch of amapiano, and it’s truly Namibian.”

The group is made of Ak-I (Axel Johannes) and Zarr (Sean Nesho), who perform together as Mzaki_na, along with solo artist Nestro (Nesta Romeo Uri-kob). The trio first connected in 2023, quickly discovering their deep love for music. After this discovery, the Mzaki duo dropped their first-ever project under PSA Records, titled ‘Fire Pack Vol. 1’.

After taking a break for a few years, the trio is back with a Kwaii bang and has been working
intensely behind the scenes to create the new sound.

Nesho says the motivation to collaborate came from recognising each member’s individual strengths. “It has to be the undoubted talent. Witnessing the potential of what each person could bring to the table definitely motivated us to work together,” said the singer, further stating that their diversity helps them capture different people from different backgrounds with their music.

With Chinja, the artists hope to ignite fresh excitement both locally and internationally, saying that they want their listeners to get nothing but good energy from their song. Nesho adds, “That sense of excitement to hear something unique, and a sense of pride knowing this standard of music is locally made.”

Highly optimistic about their future, the trio hopes to go viral in Namibia before pushing their sound through Africa and the world.
