It’s a great motivation for me and the team, says Shalulile

Home Sports It’s a great motivation for me and the team, says Shalulile

Namibian midfielder-cum-striker Peter Shalulile is convinced that being bestowed with the Most Improved Sportsperson of the Year award, and the Brave Warriors also winning the Team of the Year accolade at Friday’s MTC/NSC annual sports awards ceremony, serve as a good tonic as they march ahead in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

On a personal note, Shalulile says the award will surely push his game to greater heights as he continues to strive for excellence.

“The award means a lot to me and now I will have to work even extra hard going forward. I would like to thank the coaches I work with and of course the Almighty God for all the talent and strength to achieve this and more to come,” says a jovial Shalulile, who was part of this year’s Cosafa Cup winning Brave Warriors team.

With the Team of the Year accolade, the Brave Warriors’ inspirational skipper, Ronald Ketjijere, explains that the award will propel the team to go as far as possible in the World Cup qualifiers, while also striving to double up their game whenever they take to the field.

“This kind of recognition is surely what we needed to add a new dimension to our confidence as a team. It also means pressure because the expectations of the nation are high and that can only motivate us to do more and more on the pitch. It is the game we love and will continue to represent,” Ketjijere says.

On November 13, the Brave Warriors will host Guinea in the first leg of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers’ second round, before travelling to Morocco on November 17 for the second leg. Guinea currently play their home games in Morocco due to the Ebola epidemic in that country.
