An extremely affordable option for your budget is JAC’s T6 double-cab bakkie.
It boasts the largest cargo area in its class, allowing ample space for loads and tools, with an option for a longer flat deck.
Retailing at JAC Motors starting at N$409 900, the T6 is attracting many potential buyers looking for a reliable workhorse for the farm or business.
“Many of our customers have commented on the reliability and the trustworthiness of the T6. Offering more power than speed, the T6 is ideal for agriculture, business and any activity that requires hard work,” said Kent Cragg, sales executive at JAC Motors Namibia.
With that in mind, Chinese manufacturer JAC has extended its T6 double-cab range with a more affordable diesel engine option.
That means the T6 is available in 4×2 guise as a 4×4.
In addition, the new 2.8 TDI Lux undercuts the current 1.9 TDI Comfort model, which costs only marginally more than the 2.0-litre petrol base model. With the T6, JAC caters for budget-conscious businesses and consumers, seeking a more basic technological package, specifically the kind you can probably repair in your garage if necessary.
Moreover, JAC’s T6 claims combined fuel consumption figures of 7.9 litres per 100km for the 2.8 TDI 4×2 variant.
It has a five-speed manual gearbox and 10.5 l/100km for the 4×4 version, which pairs with a six-speed manual.
When the T6 was reintroduced in Southern Africa, Karl-Heinz Göbel, CEO of JAC Motors South Africa, said the reintroduction of the 2.8 TDI was in response to customers in remote areas as well as neighbouring countries, where reliability and ease of maintenance are important considerations.
“Over the past five years, customer feedback played an important role in our brand’s local growth. We believe the market’s need for a reliable and economical 2.8L turbodiesel engine is one of those examples where we can respond with tried-and-tested products,” he said. The JAC T6 2.8 TDI boasts a ground clearance of 197 millimetres, a 900kg payload and a braked towing capacity of 2 000kg.
Safety features include dual front airbags and ABS brakes, while creature comforts come in the form of manual air conditioning, electric windows, a Bluetooth-compatible Radio/MP5 audio system, 12-Volt accessory socket and leather seat trim.
Some of the comfort features on the T6 include power windows, air conditioning, six speakers, a 12 V accessory socket and USB, a rear middle seat headrest and a multi-function instrument cluster.
In terms of JAC’s warranty, the T6 comes with a five-year, 150 000km warranty, which includes a 100 000km service plan.
The T6 features a rugged ladder frame suspension and a double-wishbone independent front suspension with coil springs. The T6 2.8l TDI’s payload is 900kg and can tow up to 2 000kg (braked).
Although it is primarily a workhorse, the JAC T6 is not without frills and comforts.
Standard equipment in the T6 2.8l TDI models includes two airbags, ABS brakes, reverse camera, rear parking sensors and speed-sensing auto door locks. In addition, the 4×4 version can be switched from two- to four-wheel drive at speeds up to 80km/h.
In addition, it features a low-range transfer case.
The T6, alongside the popular T8, were the first JAC bakkies to launch the JAC brand in Namibia.
