Kasheeta claims WBO Youth International title

Namibian boxing sensation Jonathan Kasheeta has added a major accolade to his growing career after being crowned the new WBO Youth International Champion on Saturday night in Tanzania.

Kasheeta, who now boasts a professional record of eight wins and one loss, secured a unanimous decision victory over Tanzania’s Kalolo Amiri in a gruelling 10-round contest.

The fight headlined the ‘Knockout Ya Mama’ boxing event, held at the Kijitonyama Posta Grounds in Dar es Salaam, and marked a significant milestone as Kasheeta’s first international professional bout.

Representing Black Diamond Boxing Club, the 23-year-old displayed remarkable determination and tactical discipline as he withstood the hometown favourite’s pressure and took control of the bout with his sharp counters and well-timed combinations.

Kasheeta was guided in the corner by experienced trainer Lukas ‘German’ Nghikembwa and managed by seasoned boxing figure Max Ipinge, both of whom played instrumental roles in his preparation and success.

Speaking after the fight, Ipinge said that Kasheeta’s victory not only boost his career trajectory, but also raises the country’s profile on the international boxing stage.

Ipinge further praised his boxers performance and confirmed that Kasheeta is expected to defend his title within the next 120 days, as stipulated by WBO regulations.

“He fought well, showed heart and maturity. There’s a lot more to come from him. We’re also in discussions with other promoters. If the right fight comes along, we’ll take it,” said Ipinge.
