RUNDU – The Namibian police in Kavango West have recorded three suicide incident that were reported to them between Friday and Monday.
On Monday evening at 21h30 at Wiiwi village, Kavango West region, David Hausiku Mafufa (25) allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with a belt under a tree.
He did not leave a suicide note.
In a similar matter, still in Kavango West, a suicide scene unfolded as an adult male was found hanging from a rope on a tree on Friday morning at Nankudu village.
“According to the family members, the deceased left his house on Thursday morning to go and cut grass for thatching huts, but the deceased didn’t return home that day,’’ said Kavango West Namibian Police regional commander, Julia Sakuwa-Neo.
“The family members decided to trace his shoes prints on Friday. They found his body hanging in a tree. The motive is not known, and there was no suicide note left behind.
The deceased’s name is Hamunyera Andreas, an adult Namibian male. He was a resident of Nankudu village. His next of kin was informed,’’ Sakuwa-Neo said.
Another suicide by hanging was also report on Friday, where it was believed that at an unknown time of the night at Etenderera village, Petrus Hamutenya Kauma (24) allegedly took his life.
Sakuwa-Neo said Kauma hanged himself with a rope on a tree. “The motive is also not known, and there was no suicide note left behind. His next of kin was informed. The body was transported to Rundu hospital mortuary for the autopsy to be carried out,” she said.
