WINDHEOK – The newly established Khomas Boxing Federation (KBF) can easily be likened to an angel sent from heaven, as the Federation has in a short space of time worked miracles in terms of turning troubled youngsters into well-rounded champions, teaching them discipline and showing them how to channel their anger into something positive.
The Federation consist of seven boxing clubs, namely, the Soweto Boxing Club (SBC), Golden Boxing Club (GBC), Nestor “Sunshine” Tobias Boxing and Fitness Academy (NSTBFA), Warriors Promotion (WP), After School Centre (ASC) Hooly Boxing Club and the Unam Boxing Club (UBC).
The Federation is a non profitable organisation that strongly believes that by keeping the youth fit and focused on positive things, they can assist government in promoting a healthy nation and with productive citizens. All affiliated clubs commenced with training sessions in January this year.
The Federation also hosted its first major tournament last weekend at the Peoples Primary School Hall, where all youngsters traded blows while sharing various skills. A total of 10 bouts were fought in the senior category while 9 bouts featured in the junior category.
They plan to host developmental tournaments every month with the aim of developing amateur boxers at community level while according the youngsters an opportunity to compete at much bigger stage.
