WINDHOEK – Marius Sheya, Governor of the Kunene Region, alongside his regional and local authority councilors, recently paid a courtesy call on the MTC management and was received by the Chief Human Capital and Corporate Affairs Officer, Tim Ekandjo.
During their discussion, Sheya outlined developmental challenges facing Kunene Region, especially the issue of network accessibility within the region.
The governor also used the visit to request a status brief regarding the 081Every1 project and implementation in his region, expressing concern that they are aware of the nationwide program, but wants to be kept abreast more on the development, particularly concerning the remote and outlying parts of the region.
The 081Every1 project was introduced in August 2017, with the intention to ensure 100 percent population settlement coverage. It is the single largest telecoms investment program ever undertaken in post-independent Namibia with a total cost of N$1 billion funded exclusively by MTC’s own balance sheet.
Ekandjo, enthused by the visiting delegation, explained that the 081Every1 project is a national project and noted that MTC will ensure that Kunene receives the coverage needed to be able to enjoy network connectivity like all other regions.
