WINDHOEK – Both veteran bowls players Bea Lamprecht and Ewald Vermeulen won the highly competitive TrenTyre Bowls Senior Pairs Competition, which was restricted to bowlers over the age of 50, staged at the TransNamib Bowls Club in Windhoek last weekend.

The second place went to the team of Avril Kotze and Moolman van Zyl, while Babs van der Merwe and her partner Horst Zimny, had to settle for third place. Due to her strong showing throughout the weekend, Avril Kotze claimed the prestigious player of the tournament award. In the meantime, the popualr Windhoek League will be back in action this coming weekend with three teams from each Windhoek-based club allowed to partake at the Windhoek Country Club.

The TransNamib Bowls Club currently sits in the driving seat in the overall log standings and it will take a monumental effort from 2nd placed Eros Bowls Club to catch up with the log leaders. Great bowls can be expected with the event marking the 2nd league day of the season. Meanwhile, the Namibian Bowls Association (NBA) have announced the national teams to represent Namibia at the upcoming South African (SA) Test series, slated to take place during November 1-3 in Pretoria. The national squads will be accompanied by the men and women’s senior teams that will also compete in Pretoria, but without national colours and therefore not as official national teams.
