Seven self-written English books by learners titled Contemporary Picture Book Illustrations in Germany were on Monday evening launched at the Goethe Centre.
Grade 9 learners from a number of schools in the capital participated in the writing process under the guidance of novelist Neshani Andreas and visual artist Nickey Marais.
“The learners worked closely with Neshani Andreas to formulate their own simple but meaningful story on a life-changing experience, a family fable, a traditional tale or a fantasy story.
“Subsequently they where shown by Nicky Marais how to design a book, conceptualize the artworks and produce a finished ‘print-ready’ copy for presentation,” said the director of the Goethe Centre, Christiane Schulte, at the launch.
