SWAKOPMUND – At least 450 Grade 10 learners from the Swakopmund and Walvis Bay districts are currently attending the annual spring school that started on Sunday at the Coastal High School in Swakopmund, in an effort to improve their grades in the end of year examinations.

The regional spring school is hosted every year to assist learners to better their subject grades and improve their study methods.

“I want to encourage you to make use of this opportunity. We have provided excellent teachers to assist you in your various subjects. You are in a fortunate position to be funded to attend the spring school. Now it is time to show investors that their investment was put to good use,” said the senior education officer in the region, Natalia Guriras, at its official opening.

Guriras said that since the start of the spring school 12 years ago, the region has significantly improved its Grade 10 results, which saw the region being ranked first on several occasions.

The Omaruru circuit Grade 10 learners attended the spring school from August 19 to 23, while the Swakopmund and Walvis Bay schools are attending the spring school until this coming Friday. Fishing companies are sponsoring the school to the tune of $350 000.
