LearnOnOne, Fresh collaborate on stationery drive

LearnOnOne recently collaborated with Fresh FM 102.9, 99FM and Pick ’n Pay Namibia to collect mountains of pens, pencils, notebooks and other essential school supplies for learners from disadvantaged backgrounds.

LearnOnOne is a Section 21 company that broadcasts educational content to address the educational needs of children and adults in rural and lower-income areas. This accessible TV-based platform offers a cost-effective solution, enhancing educational opportunities for those unable to attend traditional classes.

The initiative aims to bridge the gap between potential and opportunity. LearnOnOne, a registered non-profit organisation, is known for providing supplementary educational lessons and enriching content through One Africa TV and on-demand streaming. However, access to knowledge is only one piece of the puzzle.

The organisation’s spokesperson Rukee Kaakunga said without the tools of learning, many learners struggle to keep pace, their dreams hindered by circumstances beyond their control.

“We believe that every child deserves a fair chance to succeed, providing extra lessons is vital, but we also recognise the harsh reality that many learners lack the fundamental resources to participate in a class or complete their homework. This stationery drive is about more than just giving them pens and paper; it’s about giving them hope and a chance to build a better future,” she indicated.

She added that the impact of this drive has been profound, touching donors’ lives as, just as it will the recipients.

Kondjeni Haufiku, co-founder of The Better Together Foundation, donated N$10 000, which represents more than just a financial pledge.

“Growing up in a large family, I know first-hand the challenges faced by learners from difficult backgrounds. Our foundation is committed to making a real difference in our community, and this partnership has given us the perfect opportunity to start 2025 by investing in the future of these children,” said Haufiku with tears rolling down her cheeks.

Speaking on behalf of the partnering radio stations, KC Butshe said “partnering with LearnOnOne and Pick n Pay for a back-to-school stationery drive aligns perfectly with the brand values of both 99FM and Fresh FM. For 99FM, this initiative reinforces its role as an “Inspiration Station.”

Butshe appealed to its urban professional audience to support education and societal
advancement.

“It enhances its socially- conscious image, and deepens its connection with listeners who value meaningful contributions. For Fresh FM, the drive highlights its youthful, culturally-rooted identity, emphasising its commitment to uplifting the next generation and fostering positivity. This partnership strengthens Fresh FM’s presence in communities, and enhances its relevance to younger audiences and families,” said the radio personality.

He added that the stations benefit from increased brand equity and stronger community ties by participating in the drive, as the initiative showcases their shared dedication to youth empowerment and social impact, while opening doors for future collaborative opportunities with key partners.

Three schools in the Khomas and Otjozondjupa regions will be the beneficiaries of these generous donations, with handovers scheduled for the first week of this month. These supplies will not only equip learners for success in the classroom, but will also alleviate the financial burden on families already struggling to make ends meet.
