Just a few months after scooping the club’s Player of the Month accolade in May, former Brave Warriors net-rattler Sadney Urikhob continues to be a major fountain of inspiration for his Thai club Super Power Samut Prakan – formerly known as Osotspa.
With the club currently tangled in a nasty relegation battle in the 18-team Thailand Premiership, Urikhob on Saturday appeared in scintillating form as the diminutive striker scored three goals to inspire his club to a 4-1 victory over BBCU during their league clash at the Thephasadin Stadium in Bangkok.
Anothey Komenan scored the opener for Super Power Samut Prakan, before Urikhob’s hat-trick sealed a perfect victory which boosted the club’s survival hopes. Wooguen Jeong scored BBCU’s only goal.
Speaking to New Era Sport from his Thai base, Urikhob expressed satisfaction with the win and his individual form, saying he is fully fit and wants to transfer all that energy into helping the club survive the relegation axe.
“We are currently faced with a relegation fight, meaning we all have an obligation of making sure we help the team survive. We started the season off poorly but started picking up midway and with the arrival of the new coach, I’m confident we will survive relegation come end of the season,” said a confident Urikhob.
The former Saraburi frontman – also in the Thai Premier League – has been dominating headlines since returning from an eight-month knee injury layoff, scoring a total of nine goals in fifteen appearances so far.
Super Power Samut Prakan currently sit 17th on the league log table and Urikhob believes they have what it takes to shove off the relegation machete.
“The new coach has brought a new lease of life into the team and has inspired us to work even harder individually and as a team.”
Urikhob joined Super Power Samut Prakan (Osotspa) earlier this year on a short-term contract that is expected to run until December, after parting ways with former club Saraburi, which pulled out of the Thai Premiership due to financial constraints. Super Power Samut Prakan was also home to former Brave Warriors players Tangeni Shipahu and Lazarus Kaimbi.
Urikhob initially joined Saraburi from Civics at the beginning of the 2014/15 season. Prior to that he played for South African club Amazulu, before it was relegated from the Premier Soccer League.
