Namibia is turning 26 on the 21st of March. This is an ideal opportunity to take a step back and get a long-term perspective on the important question: “So, what has Namibia done with its freedom over the past 26 years”.

Eos Capital has produced a report so as to contribute towards a more balanced narrative on Namibia’s performance since Independence.

The report will be launched on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at a breakfast to be hosted by the firm at the Nampower Convention Centre in Windhoek, to which the business community, regulators and opinion leaders have been invited.

It seems the focus is too much on the negative and short-term issues, whilst an assessment of a nation’s performance requires also a long-term perspective, as it takes time to build institutions, catch up with the backlog and alleviate poverty.

The country had some gains over the past 26 years, but also faces profound challenges that need to be overcome. This report reviews the achievements and challeges.

At the same occasion, Eos Capital will also focus on infrastructure investments. For this purpose, the company has invited the CEO of the South Africa Venture Capital Association, Erika Van der Merwe, to talk about lessons in infrastructure investment.

The meeting will also focus on the importance of commercial due diligence in private equity investments and the contribution of private equity in the economic growth of the country.
