Letter – NDF job requirement not pretty

Letter – NDF job requirement not pretty

Daniel Sampayo

The job requirement of vaccination for Covid-19 is a big barrier for many applicants.

It was said that Covid-19 vaccination is voluntary; however, the NDF ministry is attempting to throw a take it or leave it job requirement into peoples’ faces.

One may ask why it is that only the NDF ministry is including vaccination as a job requirement if there are many ministries releasing vacancies.

It is understandable that many people are applying, and that the ministry wants to calibrate the number of posts with the number of those who will qualify, including a mandatory vaccination, which does not seem like a well-thought idea.

There are hundreds of unemployed people with a qualification in various professions; yet, we have not seen any posts released with such a requirement.

Why in the NDF ministry?

There is an enormous disturbing controversy around this requirement.

There should be fairness in all job professions when it comes to job requirements.

People are unemployed, but that does not give you, as an individual in authority, to see it as the opportunity to force people to be vaccinated before they are employed.

As a leader in authority, it is always wise to look at both sides of the coin before making a final decision.

Tyranny does not yield good results.

It is people’s right to decide what is good for their health.

This job requirement needs a second glance.

For those in authority in this area, let humanity and freedom lead before action.

Understandably, Covid-19 is still in the country – and as a nation, we are working together to stop the spread.

However, doing so in positions of people’s survival is not a humane approach.

If the idea is meant to reduce Covid-19, then why is it not a job requirement in other professions?

Releasing posts reduces unemployment and poverty in the country.

However, the NDF ministry has released posts to fight Covid-19 but not employment.

Vaccination, as a job requirement in the NDF ministry, is a big shame of leadership and a visionless way of solving economic problems in the country.
