Otjiwarongo-based Debmarine Premier League outfit Life Fighters has appointed Mark Mücke as the club’s football consultant, effective Tuesday.
A club consultant is responsible for assisting the club in finalising business deals, which may vary from corporate sponsorship to helping the club and individual players make profits from endorsement.
Fighters’ commercial director Terry Ujamba confirmed the appointment to New Era Sport, saying Mücke’s designation is purposely aimed at commercialising the ‘Purple Project’ brand.
“Mücke has a vast understanding of local football, and his vast knowledge of the international football scene makes him the perfect candidate to advance our Purple Project,” Ujamba said.
The club commercial director added that the installation of the club consultant will add value to the team’s endeavours in the Premier League next season.
Speaking to this publication, Mücke said he is excited about this consultancy role, and he will market the team to the world.
“It is an honour to be back in the football business after some time off. This is a big club – run professionally, and its log position last season can attest to my sentiment,” he said.
The consultant said Fighters is already an established brand, and he will work tirelessly to expose players to international markets and cement the team’s status in Namibia’s top-tier league.
“I am happy to see some of the players whom I groomed at academy level in this team. They have a very strong depth in youth development, and that is great for any professional team,” said Mücke, who also managed the Youth Academy of Otjiwarongo Football Club.
As a board member, Mücke said he will meet with fellow members, and analyse and observe what the team needs before coming up with a comprehensive plan.
He will be travelling to Europe next week to expose the team to France, Switzerland and Germany.
Apart from football, Mücke is a businessman, and he owns a farm in the vicinity of Otjiwarongo.
The German national also played football during his heyday and was the coach of the Otjozondjupa football regional team in 2018.
