Little Black Dress celebrates third year of empowering Namibian women

The Little Black Dress project will celebrate its third annual event at the Avani Hotel under the theme ‘You versus You’ on 15 April.

The event, which is the brainchild of Liezel Ndjaronguru, the owner of Divas and Gents Fitness Centre, intends to empower and inspire every girl child in their quest to discover themselves.

In her introductory remarks during a private sponsorship handover event at Old Mutual on 24 February 2023, Ndjaronguru explained what this year’s theme is centred around.

“We are the only ones who compete with us. The only person who will prevent us from achieving wealth and prosperity is ourselves. Instead of becoming the one who defeats you, keep working to improve you, continue training, combat, and compete to better who you were before,” she stated.

Ndjaronguru added that the event will provide a platform for influential and distinguished women in the industry to share their wisdom and experiences with the women in attendance.

Speaking at the handover, Old Mutual Group Marketing, Public Affairs and Sustainability executive Mignon du Preez said they are proud to be associated with events such as these that truly empower Namibian women.

“This event falls in line with our sustainability pillars and we look forward to joining on the night of the event,” she added.

Poiyah Media founder Ilke Platt welcomed Old Mutual, indicating the importance of sponsoring events to aid organisers.

“It is time to work smarter, not harder and look for partnerships between larger organisations who share the same interests. Over the past two years, this event welcomed various sponsors on board and shared its objectives through empowering women that influence our society. It is an honour to be associated with a credible brand and we look forward to other fruitful partnerships to benefit both organisations. We, therefore, thank Old Mutual and Avani for believing in the importance of this event,” she shared.

Online nutritionist Meike Rubow, owner of mmacht. health, will be one of the guest speakers and will focus her presentation on a nutritional diet and body transformation.

“I believe that the biggest factor in developing a healthy eating lifestyle is a positive, determined frame of mind. There is no magic fix to body transformation. To be and look healthy, you must eat well and live a healthy lifestyle,” she said.

Little Black Dress will also feature Veronika Theron, Erna Motinga, Cassia Sharpley and Mignon du Preez alongside entertainment by gospel sensation Maranatha.

Tickets are charged at N$450 per person.
