Local content creators to be celebrated

Local content creators to be celebrated

Namibia’s burgeoning digital talent is set to receive well-deserved recognition, with DSTV Namibia launching the Namibia Content Creator Awards website in Windhoek on Wednesday.

This platform is a significant step in acknowledging the impact of digital content creation in today’s interconnected world.

The awards are the first of their kind in the country, and aim to celebrate Namibia’s content creators.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place in November this year and will feature 20 categories.

MultiChoice Namibia’s Corporate Affairs Manager Elzita Beukes said the world has evolved into a digital age where content has become more than just information, but a crucial tool to connect people from all corners of the world.

“Similar to content creators, DStv is a home of entertainment that is deeply rooted in Namibia, and brings people together through our valuable products and services. Therefore, we’d like to encourage the public to put a spotlight on the conversation starters, authentic storytellers and overall impact makers by nominating them on the DStv Content Creator Awards platform,” she noted.

Beukes said the new and interactive website features a minimalistic design, is incredibly user-friendly, and offers a seamless nomination process, with comprehensive information on the categories available, inclusive of Content Creator of the Year, Fashion and Lifestyle Award, Foodie Award, Influencer Award, Traditional/Cultural, Content Creating Corporation and more.

“For many years, we have been creating content, and now is our chance to be celebrated. With these awards, we want to inspire creatives to share their stories, encourage creativity and innovation, and recognise Namibian content on a national level,” said Pinehas ‘Zulu Boy’ Shikulo of the Namibia Content Creators’ team.

Nominations are open until 31 July.

Only four content creators will be shortlisted in each category, and the public will vote for the winner.

Shortlisted creators will be announced at the nominee event in August.

Several content creator workshops are also lined up, until the official awards ceremony.
