Low turnout does not dampen excitement

Despite a low turnout of supporters, rounds 25 and 26 of the MTC Namibia Netball Premier League was a resounding success.

The matches took place at the Paresis Netball Court in Otjiwarongo, with 11 out of the 12 clubs competing.

Mighty Gunners, Unam Ogongo, Wanderers, Otjozondjupa NamPol, Afrocat Lions, Unam Jaguars, Eastern Chiefs, Tsumeb Netball Club and Young Stars honoured their fixtures.

Meanwhile, Tigers were not scheduled to play over the weekend.

The weather was hot, as the season shifts from winter to summer.

Mulenamaswe Mwale of Namibia Correctional Service noted that the heat influenced their performance but stressed the importance of teamwork.

“We need to stick together, and continue playing as a team because that’s the only way we will win matches,” she shared.

Unam Jaguars’ head coach Augusta Sethie reflected on their challenging first match against Tsumeb.

The players had travelled on game day, which affected their performance.

She acknowledged the unforced errors but commended her team for taking it one quarter at a time.

Moving forward, she emphasised the need to focus on getting the basics right.
