Man allegedly cuts sister’s private parts

Police in the Ohangwena region are investigating a murder case involving a 33-year-old man who allegedly killed his sister (18), and mutilated her private parts.

Ohangwena police spokesperson sergeant Andreas Nghiyolwa said the incident occurred over the weekend at Okavela village.

The police officer stated that the suspect allegedly attacked his sister with a wooden pole in front of their cousin, who was seated with them under the shade in their homestead. It is alleged that there was no confrontation or provocation when the man suddenly picked up a pole and began assaulting his sister, hitting her on the head and all over her body.

The cousin ran to a neighbour for assistance, but upon their return, they found the sister dead. They also discovered that her private parts had been cut off, while the suspect was nowhere to be found.

The suspect was later apprehended, but could not tell the police what he had done, or where he had taken the body parts.

In a separate incident, a young woman was reportedly gang-raped by two men, who also stabbed her multiple times. This attack occurred in the Ohangwena region during the early hours of Monday.

Nghiyolwa said the incident took place at a bar called Ehenye Park in Ohadiwa village. Reports indicate that two men broke into the shebeen, and entered the barlady’s room.

They allegedly demanded the keys to the safe. After she handed them over, they gang-raped her, and stabbed her multiple times.

Fortunately, the victim survived, and is recovering at Engela Hospital.

The police have called on the public for assistance in tracing the two suspects. Nghiyolwa expressed disappointment over the incident, criticising bar owners for failing to prioritise the safety of their employees.

He added that although the police have been holding meetings with bar owners, many failed to attend.
