The Katutura Magistrate’s Court last week granted bail of N$1000 to a man who allegedly shot his ‘girlfriend’ in the head twice after she called off their rocky relationship. Johannes Ei-Aseb, 63, was granted bail by Magistrate Gerrit Brand van Pietzeo.

New Era could not confirm the name of the victim, but it is understood she is a 47-year-old married woman. The shooting incident happened in Windhoek on May 25 and the woman survived, but one of the bullets apparently cannot be removed. It is understood that the two were involved in a rocky relationship over the previous five years.

Ei-Aseb is married to another woman, while the victim is also married, but sources familiar with the case refused to divulge the victim’s name for fear of adding to her difficulties. The trouble apparently started when the victim informed Ei-Aseb she wanted to call the relationship off to concentrate on her marriage, but this allegedly infuriated Ei-Aseb to the extent that he allegedly shot her twice in the head.

The victim did not object to Ei-Aseb being granted bail and the matter was remanded to September 18 this year.
