KATIMA MULILO — A 34-year-old man was arrested in Ngweze location, Katima Mulilo on Monday following a targeted operation by the police’s drug law-enforcement unit.
The arrest comes as part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on drug trafficking in the Zambezi region.
The suspect was found in possession of a significant quantity of cannabis – 24 parcels discovered in his room, along with one brick hidden in the boot of his vehicle. The total weight of the confiscated cannabis is 1 855 grams, with an estimated street value of N$92 750.
A blue Toyota Corolla believed to have been used in the transportation of the drugs was seized during the operation.
Zambezi police spokesperson Kisco Sitali confirmed the arrest, and said the suspect was apprehended through an intelligence-led operation. “This is a significant breakthrough in our ongoing efforts to disrupt drug networks in the region,” he added.
The suspect was expected to appear in court yesterday, facing charges of dealing in cannabis and possession of cannabis.
Police investigations are continuing.
