…axes regular shotstoppers

WINDHOEK – Brave Warriors head coach Ricardo Mannetti has included unknown young defender Miguel Hamutenya in his 27-member provisional squad for the international friendly against Mozambique slated for Windhoek in a little over a week.

Hamutenya plies his trade with Norwegian club Strommen IF. There is a also a surprise recall of discarded ageing shot stopper Athiel Mbaha, who has been in a rich vein of form after rejoining former club African Stars at the beginning of the current term, while wayward winger Lovers Kamuhanga has also been thrown another lifeline to resurrect his ailing international football career. Injured Black Africa utility midfielder Denzil Hoaseb is a notable absentee.

Mannetti has given red cards to both regular shot-stoppers Virgil Vries and Ephraim Tjihonge with Tigers Lloyd Kazapua and Gernot Spath getting the nod ahead of the butterfingered pair. Inspirational skipper Stigga Ketjijere, makes a welcome return to the fold after a long lay-off through injury that kept him out of action for the better part of last season. Veteran in-form striker Henrico Botes, is also back in the mix of things.
