Namibian international goalkeeper Edward Maova has extended his charitable work back home through his organisation, the Edward Maova Foundation.
Maova currently plays for Golden Arrows in South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL).
In a gesture of inspiration and support for local youth, his foundation recently made a generous donation to Welwitschia Junior Secondary School in Khorixas, Kunene region.
The initiative was sparked by the story of Ricardo Haeseb, a grade 9 learner at the school who lives with a disability.
Despite facing physical challenges, he is a passionate and determined young goalkeeper, a position Maova plays professionally.
His enthusiasm for football struck a deep chord with the Namibian star.
“Ricardo’s courage and determination inspired me. His love for the game reminds me of why I started playing football because it brings hope, confidence and unity,” Maova said.
To encourage the young player, he donated a complete goalkeeper kit and goods to Haeseb.
Th foundation also donated footballs and training cones to the school’s football team.
Additionally, the school has been added to the foundation’s list of beneficiaries set to receive complete football and netball kits early next year.
While Maova was preparing to represent Namibia with the Brave Warriors in the Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Tunisia, his foundation officially handed over the goalkeeper kit, footballs and cones to the school as well as to Haeseb.
