By Kuvee Kangueehi Gobabis The leaders of the Mbanderu Concerned Group met on Saturday in Gobabis to inform their community about the upcoming court case against the Ovambanderu Traditional Authority. Led by Senior Traditional Councillor Erastus Kahuure, the group said the court case is set for March 26, 2007 in the Windhoek High Court, and he called on members of the community to attend this important occasion. At the meeting, the leaders of the Concerned Group reported back on the meeting which they held in Eiseb Block last year and presented a programme plan for this year. The meeting was attended by close to 100 Ovambanderu from almost every constituency where the Ovambanderu has a presence in Namibia, such as Aminuis, Otjinene, Kunene, Epukiro, Otjozondjupa, Gobabis and Khomas constituencies. They were informed that their lawyers were currently busy preparing a response to an affidavit submitted by the Ovambanderu Traditional Authority following their application. This will not be the first legal showdown between Ovambanderu Chief Munjuku II Nguvauva, as first respondent, and the Ovambanderu Traditional Authority, as the second respondent against Kahuure and 10 other traditional councillors. Last year, Kahuure and his group won the legal battle after the High Court instructed Nguvauva to reinstate Kahuure and the traditional councillors that had been sacked. The court case will centre on the Mbanderu Constitution which was endorsed by Chief Munjuku II. The document has divided the community into two groups – one claiming that the document has been duly accepted and is now a legal document for the community, and the other challenging this view cites an aborted process through which the document should have been channelled.
